Natural and Native History of the Stikine Country Featuring Dr. Wade Davis

Dates: TBA

This trip based out of Spatsizi Lodge on Laslui Lake, is designed for all interests from fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and canoeing to simply relaxing and enjoying nature. The week allows for botany study and wildlife viewing during this educational & historical wilderness adventure.  Quality time is spent with Wade Davis observing wildlife, plant life, and birds in their pristine, natural environment. Step back in time and discover century old trails traveled by British Columbia’s First Nations. View moose, otters and various waterfowl along the river corridor and willow ptarmigan on the plateau. We'll share stories & laughter around the campfire, and hope to see the spectacular Northern Lights.

Wade Davis is an anthropologist, botanical explorer and best-selling author who received his Ph.D. in ethnobotany from Harvard University.  A native of British Columbia, Dr. Davis has worked as a park ranger, forestry engineer, and he has conducted ethnographic fieldwork among several indigenous societies of northern Canada.
Davis has published several scientific articles and books including, "The Sacred Headwaters: The Fight to Save the Stikine, Skeena and Nass" (2012) This work aligns with The Collingwood Family's ongoing commitment in sharing with others the wonders of Spatsizi and our work to protect its natural and cultural values.

Fly-in Fishing and Spatsizi Nature Tour

Dates: TBA

Choose your activity from hiking, exploring on horseback, canoeing, fly fishing, photography or simply enjoying enchanting country! Choose from day hikes or multi-day trek into the wilds of Spatsizi. Explore game trails from base camp reaching mountain vistas, or traverse the untouched river valleys lush with artic willows and wild flowers. Spatsizi is the home of abundant wildlife including moose, caribou, mountain goat, Stone sheep, bears, wolves, numerous birds and waterfowl.

With over 30 lakes, rivers and streams to choose from, Spatsizi is truly a fantastic dry fly fishing experience! The hatches of Stone, Caddis, and Mayfly are phenomenal. All fishing takes place on small rivers, lakes or streams, crystal clear with easy wading. Each fly-out day you escape to your own private waters in remote wilderness setting in our floatplanes with an experienced pilot and guide. Catch wild rainbows on the dry fly ranging from 14 - 24" (streams). For those wanting diversity, try for Bull Trout, Arctic Grayling, Rocky Mountain Whitefish, or Lake Trout.

Each day return to the main camp where you can relax, enjoy chef-prepared meals in the central lodge and a cozy campfire each star-filled night.
